Williams Electronics, Inc.

Williams Electronics, Inc. was formally founded in 1974, building on the earlier Williams Manufacturing Company which was founded in 1943 by Harry Williams. In 1987 it became WMS Industries and in 1988, it acquired Bally/Midway, one of its main competitors during the period.

In 1981 Williams released Defender developed by a team lead by Eugene Jarvis which is, to this day, one of the most successful arcade video games of all time.
